Stuttering Stories I had a stutter starting from basically when I could talk, and I went to a speech therapist starting when i was about 9. I went for 4 years, and 'graduated' in 7th grade, I've barely had a problem since. When I did have a stutter, it was brutal, and many people were worse in dealing with it than others. What are examples of how people interacted with you when you had a stutter or now, when you stutter? I understand that a lot of you probably aren't comfortable sharing this, or it brings back difficult memories, but it always helped me to talk about it. For example, I remember I was in a Christmas show at my church when I was 10, and I was given a dreaded speaking part. During a rehearsal, I was trying to get my way through a line, and I was trying basic exercises like starting with a deep breath, or a soft 'h'. An older kid was in a scene with me, and he eventually yelled at me, something about 'Just spit it out!' (always a constructive thing to say to someone stuttering). If you want to share a story, please do, if not, good luck working on your stutter! I wish this wasn't such an issue, and one that people generally do not react well to.
