Most therapists will refuse to help you unless you tell them you accept it. For child stutters this is different but for adult stutterers therapists mostly focus on accommodation. It is very hard to find a therapist who is even good and will teach speech fluency techniques and almost none will put in the time required that will be necessary to overcome the brain plasticity and relearn motor responses to speech the brain. Basically you can imagine stuttering as having a physical disability that is continually reinforced every day you aren't in therapy. When therapy consists of a one hour session a week out of (conservatively) 112 waking hours a week you can quickly see that this isn't very effective. I've found that most adult therapists don't even bother at all and focus entirely on acceptance.
