I guess I have a bad experience with speech therapy when I was a kid. I was in it for 3 years, and while my teacher was a very sweet lady, I didn't get much out of the sessions. It was all focused on mechanical improvements to my speech that hardly worked, at least not for me. I never wanted to see a speech therapist again because I figured it'd be a waste of time. I tried the SpeechEasy device during my freshman year of high school, while still be homeschooled. I was diagnosed as being a moderate to moderate-severe stutterer at that time and the SpeechEasy didn't seem to do much. I was allowed to wear it for the afternoon while my parents and I shopped, had lunch, etc. For $3k+, I didn't see the point. My parents would've bought it in a heartbeat but I didn't want them to spend that kind of money for hardly a band-aid fix. Is speech therapy more than what I described above? What worked for you all specifically?
