You shouldn't let your speech limit your career choices. And I wouldn't know which professions will fit you because that's based on self-discovery of who you are as a person, personality, goals, etc. I will be starting physical therapy school next month and I am quite nervous and excited at the same time. Physical therapy is a profession with lots of patient interaction but I am fine with that because it will allow me to grow as a person despite my difficulties with my speech ("ask for not an easier life but for the strength to endure a hard one"). I already have an idea of which particular area I would like to specialize, being geriatrics. I have realize through self-reflection that I stutter way less when I talk with children/ teens and the elderly. I feel that my speech will allow me to better understand and connect with my patients, because I view my speech as a barrier to functioning similar to how someone in a wheelchair might view a set of stairs. I have always been an athletic person and love learning about the human body. One of my life goals is to enhance the longevity of people, especially my family/friends, without the need for surgery or drugs. Another thing I was looking for was a career that pays comfortably with minimal stress and high job satisfaction. There are also many settings that I can work in if I ever get bored of one setting. With a lot of self-discovery, I realized that physical therapy was the perfect career for me. Life is about growing as a person whether it be financially, mentally, socially, physically, emotionally, spiritually, etc.
