This, however, is best done with someone else, preferably a person you trust, think is level-headed and honest. Then you start brainstorming about worst-, best-, and most likely- case scenarios -- * What is the worst that might happen if I stutter in [a particular situation]. * What is the best that might happen if I stutter in [that particular situation]. * What is the most likely to happen if I stutter in [that particular situation]. This will likely vary from person to person, but it may help put your anxiety into perspective. Here's an example of what I mean. If I stutter when introducing myself to a stranger * What is the worst that could happen: They point, laugh and draw the attention of others to the fact that I stuttered. * What is the best that could happen: They don't appear to notice. * What is the most likely to happen: They give me a quizzical look that dissipates and the conversation continues..
