Are you sure? I could have sworn that that is the reason why speech therapy is actually effective in young children (ie. they outgrow stuttering). Their neural pathways are able to reorganize, whereas an adult or post-pubescent teenager is probably not likely to actually stop stuttering through therapy (just learn techniques to control it).
