Another tip to stay in right headspace is to mentally bucket different conversations into “I’ll never see this person again so who cares” bucket as well the “I will see this person again and/or they’re involved as stakeholders so need a working relationship going forward”. A presentation is much more impactful when you speak with conviction and have content that’s super robust and shows you’ve applied critical thinking and anticipated questions the audience may ask. Focusing on content rather than simply the delivery piece allows you to force your brain to the information you’re bringing to that forum and not over index on the delivery component which will stress you out or start getting nerves well in advance. Long winded answer ^ but I would encourage you to reflect on those interactions + the people you talk to in a day and get your head straight on two simple questions: What do they need from me? & What do I need from them? Focus on leaning into your strengths and what gives you confidence… self talk and selective memory is key here // Build your ego intentionally while continuing to minimize the space your stutter takes up in real life.
