It's frustrating, speech therapy? Hello, longtime lurker of these subs. I used to stutter as a kid but it went away in my teens. Moved to a new country and a new job and it came back a couple years into it. I'm 27 now and have been stuttering again for the past couple years. I have social anxiety and used to stutter/block while out and about but this has gotten better now with better stress management, these days I don't stutter much. Most of my friends can't tell I have a stutter. What got worse over time is talking on the phone. I find that I have developed this fear of the phone. The moment the phone rings, my mind goes into a should I? should I not? loop. Once I dare answer it, heart starts to pound accounpanied with complete speech blocks. I found that a few days are better than others and that exercise (mostly biking and crossfit) makes it worse! I know that sounds counterintuitive and I've been trying to make sense of it myself. Any suggestions as to how I should improve? Would speech therapy help here?
