Okay I’ve done that stupid shit. They grade on the initial impression. That’s stupid. Recognize that they are idiots. Fuck. Them. Blocks are hard and painful and stupid. I turn them into “thinking moments.” The audience thinks I’m thoughtful and deliberate and, if you play them right, no one knows any different. They just think you’re working things out. Now that we’ve gotten that out of the way, I have no doubt you handled yourself with panache and aplomb. I’ll tell you from experience: no boss worth a shit cares whether you can introduce yourself fluently. If you can do the work, talk the talk, they don’t care. Us stutterers are talkers. We flow back and forth through conversation and convey information efficiently and effectively, because the alternative is not acceptable. To hell with your bad grade. To hell with the stupid sonuvabitch who gave you that bad grade. You know what you know and that’s the most important.
