I don’t experience it exactly the way you described, but I do stutter, especially when I’m stressed or under pressure at work. And when it happens, it can feel like my body just locks up before my brain does. That loss of control in the moment is incredibly frustrating. It’s not just “can’t get words out,” it’s the panic and tension that builds around it. What you’re describing sounds even more intense than that, and I can only imagine how isolating it must feel. You’re definitely not alone in struggling with speech under stress. But if it’s happening most of the time, that’s something worth getting real support for not because you’re broken, but because you shouldn’t have to live constantly in that state. Speech and stress are so connected. Sometimes the body shuts things down when it feels overwhelmed.
