>i basically talked myself out of stuttering. From my experiences and encounters, this really does seem to be the best way to do things. There's actually a whole therapy around this. "stuttering your way through stuttering" is how I heard it. I've actually been trying it, but unfortunately i've been having setbacks. When my speech is average to bad, I can do this without much trouble, but I feel like there is a different set of rules when you're fluency is at a literal 1/10. I hit a very severe patch with my speech and I kind of fell out of talking my way out of stuttering. For example, I don't mind struggling with a server at a restaurant, but its a different story when I have to ask a co-worker a question and even after 30 seconds of struggle I still can't get out your first word. It kind of feels like all bets are off at that point and you break from your goal.
