My 7 year old begins speech therapy next week. I stuttered pretty badly growing up, I never got help for it, but it sort of fizzled out when I was in my early 20s. I still do it a bit, but not nearly as bad as before. Last spring my daughter started doing it a little bit. it gradually got worse, I would remind her to slow down, take a breath, and tried to speak calmly and clearly to her. Around July this year it snowballed and got much worse. I asked her teacher for advice, resources, but she shrugged her shoulders. So I hired a speech pathologist who apparently specializes in this. I really don't want my daughter to suffer like I did all those years, barely being able to get words out. Having a group of people turn to me for an answer only to stand there and go "*tsk* *tsk* *tsk* hhhhhhhhhow d-d-d-d----- *hangs head in shame* nevermind...." Anyone with a stuttering kid? Or anyone have good parents that helped them with their stutters?
