Finally brought up my stutter to my family It wasn’t a big, emotional conversation because my family isn’t like that. But I just asked when I first started stuttering, the conversation was short but didn’t feel forced or anybody was uncomfortable. My family kept insisting that my stutter isn’t that bad and it got better with age, which is true. Also my sister said she notices it the most when I’m beginning to tell a story. I could feel my face going a bit red through the conversation but overall I’m glad I brought it up. That was the first ever conversation I remember having, other than my brother asking me why I stuttered when we were younger. My mom also said she had brought it up to my doctor but he didn’t think it was bad enough to do anything about. I always wished my parents would have put me in speech therapy but I suppose if the doctor said I didn’t need it, then I can’t blame them. I feel better now just from that one conversation. I wish I had the courage to talk about it in high school, but I’m glad I finally did.
