I did see a counselor trained in speech therapy. He suggest some techniques like diaphragmatic breathing and speaking slowly, but I didn't really find those techniques that helpful. I've heard a few other stutterers say that speech therapy doesn't work for this kind of stutter. What works is practice and exposure. I've read stories where stutterers join acting clubs and public speaking clubs, and all of that helps them with their stutter.
