Yup, group conversations are the worst. It kinda feels like everyone wants to speak at the same time, and everyone is eager for the person currently speaking to stop talking so they can say what they want to say. People often talk over each other and compete for the stage. I notice that even fluent people talk super fast so that they can get their entire thought out before others become impatient. And then there's me, who takes a good minute to say a sentence haha. I can clearly see people becoming impatient or losing attention as I start to speak. Hell, usually someone just gets sick of me talking and just interrupts me to say what they want to say and the group just moves on. I do great in one on one conversations, where people have to listen to me. I think people are usually a lot more patient in these scenarios and for the most part enjoy the conversation. But group convos are just too fast paced for me to be able to participate.
