Both my brother and I stutter, so there’s a genetic component there in my family, but trauma can switch it on too for those with “the gene”. For us, I believe it was an abusive childhood that triggered the gene. My parents or elder sister doesn’t stutter. I now have two adult daughters and they are the most eloquent, articulate people I know. So there you go, they might have some factors of my genetics, but it doesn’t mean they will stutter. Don’t let this hold you back from having a fulfilling life with children. Just love and treat them right. They will be fine! If you ever do notice speech problems then get it addressed early by a Speech Therapist.
