I'm 40 and stuttered from 2 to 3 years old. I made a post about my mindset changes and a little on not worrying or getting too addicted to a technique that may not be working here [https://www.reddit.com/r/Stutter/comments/1la0wvh/is\_there\_a\_difference\_in\_severity\_or\_do\_habits/](https://www.reddit.com/r/Stutter/comments/1la0wvh/is_there_a_difference_in_severity_or_do_habits/) Ironically, before I stopped myself from using those prolongation or elongation techniques and began trying anything else like repeating rather than trying to elongate through, I used to think I needed to do that kind of elongation and it would just be it's own never ending prophecy. Life just does on...stuttering was it's own distraction but there will be plenty to worry over once you are over it. We tend to live in fight for flight mode either way unfortunately. Facing my fears over it was likely what lead me to do what I don't even think I'd have done if I didn't stutter. Stuttering again just pushed me that much further.
