majesticwooper, being honest about my stuttering is something that i've done with my family yet they still don't understand what the big deal is. before i told them how it has affected my life, they too were occasionally in laughing at my speech impediment which didn't help with my confidence, mood and overall depression. In terms of "dateability", I bring many things to the table. I am smart and have a great sense of humor - i can honestly make a crowd laugh if i have a good day with minimal stuttering. I have a stable job, i made smart investments to make a down payment for a house, i am always respectful to women and even treat them out on nice dates. I feel like women raised in america just don't care about these things anymore, especially in California. I feel like all my good attributes is looked over by my speech impediment whether you like to believe it or not. I have to side with disaster532385 here because everything he stated I can relate to. It's not that female stutterers somehow don't need the same confidence that men do, its that the male partners that are attracted to dating them don't care as much. As a male, i know that if i did not stutter and met a female who did stutter, i would not judge that against her in terms of "dateability". I honestly feel that it doesn't work the other way around in our society.
