It's interesting you bring up the iceberg. I've been thinking about this very thing. The whole premise of the analogy is that stutter itself is the 10% and all the emotions are the 90%. Ive been to many conferences, workshops, therapy etc. They always mention the negative emotions, but never talk about how to deal with them. And then when we talk about acceptance, it's framed as accepting stuttering. If that's the case why are we only accepting the thing we already defined as 10% of the whole picture? It took me a long time to accept, but I realized it's just a step. And its a necessary step because it stops the cycle of more negative thoughts, but we need to heal the trauma.
