And here are some loose statistics around a big problem imo. A study found that 61.2% of adults who reported suicidal ideation associated it with stuttering. Another study found that 33.9% of respondents who had experienced stuttering attempted suicide at least once. A study found that adolescents with speech sound disorders at age 8 had twice the risk of reporting self-harm with suicidal intent. This is SERIOUS, these are HUGE numbers around suicide. This needs to be BIG discussion in medical school, medical communities, and in the public and media. The current thoughts and therapies are failing PWS. This has to CHANGE! WE have to change it. 💔💔
