I just responded to your question before, but I wanted to post it here for everyone else if they might need it: You have to let the administrator know well before the test. Like, months, if you can. The examiner cannot change the testing conditions (though you can whisper, which is great advice!). What you need is more TIME. The administrator has to submit the extra time before hand to whatever IELTS governing body they are working under (IELTS USA is who I worked for, but IDP, British Council, Cambridge, etc). If your examiner is found to have changed the testing conditions on the spot your score is void. The administrator listens to every test (in secure, double-locked/instantly archived-where-we-can't-see-it) way. If they hear a change, they have to report it. If you ask ahead of time, you're good. You don't need documentation, but it helps. Ps. Stutterers do amazing things on the IELTS exam. It's not something that will hold you back-- only the time limit will do that. If you have an extra 5 minutes to do something, it can make all the difference in the world! EDIT: Source- IELTS administrator
