It is interesting. I believe anxiety is the biggest factor though because the people I am most comfortable around I barely stutter. I think the people playing a role in theatre don’t stutter because they feel like they won’t be held accountable for the lines they are reciting, and this reduces self consciousness and allows them to speak freely. Because whatever they say isn’t them, it’s just their character, and everybody on stage has already given them permission to say what they’re gunna say, which also brings comfort. They may be anxious about being in front of an audience but they don’t second guess and hold back what they are saying because they’ve taken on a personality that allows them to say their lines. If you know what I mean?
