This is the way to go. Get it out first thing. Let everyone know what's going on, and then at least people will know how to react. One could even joke about it "Feel free to take a sip when I get stuck... just leave some for the end." Also, I think it's important to realize the bride and groom specifically asked for this speech, knowing who the speaker is. BELIEVE in their vote of confidence.
