Hi. Excellent question. One thing I know for sure is you should do everything in your power to get your son a long-term speech therapist now. Please, don’t think that because his stutter “goes away” occasionally, that it means he doesn’t need help. He does. He needs it now, or he’ll have to pay for it himself as an adult. And by then, like me and others, it’s all we know unfortunately. Don’t wait until high school or adulthood because you will watch him struggle through work, friendships, etc., and the guilt of doing nothing will eat at you. Trust me - my mom raised me alone and worked 70 hours a week. Her biggest regret: not getting me the help I needed when I was a child. Best of luck to you and your family!
