Physically stuttering? Hi all, I've been stuttering ever since I was young and saw a speech therapist when I was in elementary school but never again afterwards. I also started playing the piano at age 5, but when I was around ten, I began to "stutter" while I was playing. It was really similar to my speaking stuttering in that it always happened before I started to play a particular section and lead to me not being able to start playing (often my fingers twitched and my mind blanked as it would when I stuttered verbally). It would often occur if I was " over thinking," it would not happen if I put my fingers on the keys and just mindlessly started to play. This was quite frightening for me at first, I had no idea my verbal stuttering could affect me physically. All I want to know is: is this common among people that stutter? Is there anything I can do to alleviate it, or should I go and seek a therapist? Thanks.
