>How do I get rid of block anticipation? The main reason is anticipation. So I need some advice on anticipation. This [comment](https://www.reddit.com/r/Stutter/comments/110c37i/comment/j88bc14/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3) has 3 links that deal with stuttering anticipation. Research states that Adults Who Stutter (AWS) can experience stuttering anticipation, whereby AWS are 90% of the times correct. Research states that anticipatory anxiety are intrusive thoughts/feelings (unwanted, repeated thoughts and feelings caused by negative experiences). So, it's extremely important to deal with your perceptions/reactions whenever you experience **anticipatory thoughts** (e.g., "I will stutter on this feared letter or in this feared situation") and **anticipatory feelings** (e.g., feeling a body sensation like pressure in your throat that you have associated with stuttering anticipation). Because normally this anticipation causes us to overreact/overthink (e.g., evoking strong emotions, doing avoidance-behaviors, tracking the outcome of speech and excessively evaluating feared letters essentially overestimating the need to speak too accurate and underestimating our capacity to move speech muscles during anticipation), resulting in stopping with sending command signals to the speech muscles which leads to a speech block. Speech therapy doesn't approach these anticipatory associations (that affect command signals of the speech muscles). Normal therapists or mindfulness/ERP psychiatrists will help you approach it though.
