I'm actually in college right now. I've considered registering with DSS (Disability Support Services, as it's called at my school), but haven't for a few reasons. First and foremost, I don't think there's much that they could do for me. I would really only need anything for presentations, but even then I can generally work something out with my professor if necessary. Second, they would need some kind of proof or documentation from a doctor of some sort. Seems a bit silly for a stutter (I mean, you people can hear me, right?), and it's also not a process I particularly want to go through. Finally, it's a matter of principle. I much prefer not to look at my stutter as a disability, but rather something that just makes me a little different. Like most things in life, it's only a disability if you let be one. Proper mindset and a positive point of view are two of the most powerful things to wield, and I'd much rather those than walking around knowing that I'm officially "disabled" within the system. But hey, that's just me.
