Hey dude, 28 year old customer service rep. My job is to literally answer phone calls and talk to people. It's taken me a long time to be where I am (I was diagnosed in Kindergarten, along with de-rhotacization), but thanks to years of speech therapy, and the aid and support of my family and now wife, it's completely manageable. I still get tripped up, or when I'm stressed/excited/tired it comes back, but I know how to properly manage it. It takes time, and yea it can be frustrating as hell. But don't get discouraged! Are you in speech therapy? Have you heard of 'replacement words'? When you get stuck on a word, just think of a synonym and switch to that one- works wonders for me. Pretty soon, with some practice, you can think of new words quickly and there won't be much of a 'gap' in your speech. Also, singing in private can help. I had girlfriends in high school, even with my stutter. One I dated for over a year, the other for over three years. It's completely possible, man- you just have to be confident. It's hard, but rewarding. You got this, man. If you want to talk, just PM me.
