It’s a commonly given tip that tends to be misunderstood/misused, and it can lead to many more years of struggling for most ppl. Recently, an article appeared in this sub from a SLP who specializes in dysfluency- it explained the science and psychology of why it’s rarely a good idea to encourage someone to take a deep breath. Beginning on an exhale will lead to a quickly resolved blocks which eventually leads to fewer blocks all together. I had *disabling blocks* for over a decade . I was was petrified to say my name, order food, etc for 3 decades - after I began speaking on exhales, all thr blocking vanished. What do you have to loose?
