Social stigma against stuttering Why is stuttering considered a problem that needs to be fixed? Most of the time I'm okay with stuttering and I don't feel like uncomfortable with it. The only times I feel bad about it is when people react badly towards it. Sometimes I think the reason we are constantly trying to implement techniques to give us fluent speech to please other people and to not make them feel uncomfortable. These days society seems to be more accepting of a number of things. Why is stuttering so hard for people to accept? If people were more accepting of a stutter would you still feel like it's a problem? Has stuttering reduced/ cost you any opportunities in life?
