Morning ritual that really decreases my stutter. ketosis, rap, meditation. I am 33 and have a mild stutter. It makes life more difficult and awkward than it should be. I have been trying to experiment with things that decrease it. Here is the process that i use. 1. Ketosis. This is where your body uses fat to fuel your brain instead of sugar. To get myself into ketosis I drink a 'bulletproof coffee' which is just coconut oil / MCT with raw turmeric that i put into a blender with strong coffee. The turmeric acts as an anti inflammatory but it tastes like you are eating roots and dirt. I skip lunch and usually eat a meal in the evening. 2. Rapping. I rap for about 20 minutes on my way to work every day. I use spotify rap instrumentals through headphones. I start off whispering the words and then increase the volume as I go. Sometimes I pass people walking their dogs, it's a personal challenge to keep rapping even though I might seem like a crazy person: they don knoow me. I use a random word generating app to keep different words in the mix. 3. Meditation. I get up and try to do a out twenty minutes of listening to white noise and trying to focus on taking big slow deep breaths. Effects: There is a very noticeable effect on my voice. Both in terms of volume and fluency of my voice, people fucking listen (more) and they don't interrupt (as much). I can put all of the words into a sentence that I want and it is just way easier. Cause?: My theory is that ketosis really takes down my inflammation, when i am inflamed it causes my vagus nerve to make my throat to clench up on some words. Rapping helps to overcome that clench by giving me greater sensitivity to how my voice is working, and allows me go find the non-fuckup words easier. Meditation reduces stress and allows me detach from events that would trigger my throat to clench. TL:DR -reduce inflammation through ketosis/turmeric -hone throat control through rapping -meditate to detach from triggers and reduce stress. Found this stuff out on accident because of a desire to self improve/ go multi platinum. This is just a fuckin sweet side effect.
