Alcohol floods the brain with GABA which is an inhibitory neurotransmitter, which essentially calms down hyperactivity in the dopamine levels in the brain. Obviously you cannot get too dependent on alcohol, but there are other ways to increase GABA, such as Lemon Balm Tea, L-Theanine, certain vegetables especially fermented ones. I’ve taken Baclofen which has a similar GABAergic effect as alcohol without the negative side effects, and it improved my fluency a lot.
