You aren't getting it. It has nothing to do with maturity. He has two issues: stuttering and social anxiety. Social anxiety is a mental health condition. He's not immature because he has a mental health condition. Is someone immature because they break their leg or get cancer? Your perception of mental illness seems really old fashioned.
