i always say, one, that speech impediment is a disability, and two, accommodation for diverse forms of communications is the only way forward. for example, let us finish our own sentences, and let AAC users use their choice of AAC when they're presenting or when they're being interviewed, and let deaf people use their sign language instead of forcing them to speak.
