For the most part, I've "dealt" with tolerant and patient people. I don't do cons, or local tourneys though, so it's mostly play group stuff with the occasional new person. I will say that I generally try to avoid small talk as that's what I have the most trouble with. I dunno if it's more a psychological thing, but small talk/jokes/friendly banter makes my stutter go into overdrive. Get me talking about [Malifaux](http://pullmyfinger.wikispaces.com/M2E+Zoraida) or [MTG: Cube](/r/mtgcube), and I become Mr. Chatterbox.
