We have spent all day training our diaphragms. True story - when you get a "block" at the top of your sentence it is often because of bad breathing techniques you unconsciously have been using all your life. For example, many stutterers have always been told "try taking a deep breath before you speak - it should help!" well what happens is when you take a deep breath and hesitate to exhale, your vocal tracts close and you cannot generate fluent speech in this state. Fluent speakers unconsciously exhale as soon as their lungs are at a comfortable capacity, and it is a seamless motion. We are learning to breath and then instantly exhale by simply allowing the diaphragm to RELAX, not by consciously pushing air out our lungs. Learning to breath normally through the diaphragm 100% of the time prevents your vocal tracts from closing off when you begin speaking, and you can speak as soon as you begin exhaling while your diaphragm relaxes. Interesting stuff!
