Doctor of pharmacy here. Can you please send me the resources you are pulling this information from? Not only is sertraline a terrible choice for a sleep aid, many people actually find that any drug from the SSRI class (such as sertraline, citalopram, escitalopram, fluoxetine, paroxetine etc.) has a stimulating effect which causes insomnia. As for clonazepam, its a short acting anxiolytic which I am not a huge fan because of its abuse potential. Totally different class of medication (benzodiazepine) and that is strictly used for sedation, agitation and panic attacks. Furthermore, there are no head to head clinical trials comparing weight gain between SSRIs as a primary or secondary outcome. However, weight is a possibility I give you that. To answer your question OP, I have a stutter myself and this medication will work more for your anxiety that can exacerbate your stutter. SSRIs are used for many many pysch conditions and I think its worth a shot. However, the mind is a complex organ, so it may not work. If your pharmacist hasn't counselled this medication, feel free to DM me because there are some side effects that you might want to know. As a healthcare professional I'd like to respect your privacy so feel free whenever. Cheers
