I'm not trying to be negative. I'm just trying to get real information out there. I think spreading false hope can also be damaging. That is my personal belief and this subreddit is so we can discuss these issues. There are absolutely many ways to improve speech, and I encourage everyone to seek out those strategies! However, not everyone has the goal of completely fluent speech. Some people have a goal of being comfortable with the fact that they stutter. I don't think that means settling. I'm working on being okay with stuttering, but it also use tools to reduce it. It isn't an either/or situation. I think it's more positive to realize that perfect speech is unattainable. The celebrities that you mentioned as a source of hope may have the opposite effect; if THEY can fix their speech, why can't I? What's wrong with me? I think that kind of thinking can be less positive than acceptance. EDIT: this blogger explains acceptance in a much better way than I ever could: http://www.speechirl.com/blog/stuttering-curing-fixing-managing-accepting
