Fear will go away Hi all, I'd like to share a quick personal story about overcoming fear and "difficult" speaking situations. As a PWS I had tremendous fear of any type of meetings where I have to speak in front of many people, including strangers. When I first attended an online meeting about stuttering I couldn't picture myself talking to the other members, especially not speaking for 1-2 minutes. When I decided to say something (to make things harder it was in English which isn't my native language, so sorry for the grammar mistakes/typos :D), I was shaking, sweating and it was quite a stressful situation. Months later, speaking and sharing something during these meetings is very natural and I don't really think about that anymore. This is now similar as if I'd write something in the chat. I also had the same experience during my job, when I was the host of several online meetings (it was on my native language, but I had to talk to people who don't even know I have/had a speech problem). So, the main message of my post is that a fearful speaking situation can become a part of your comfort zone, let it be a phone call, doing an introduction/interview, an online meeting or basically anything. You don't have to be the prisoner of your fears from the past.
