I’m a special Ed assistant with a stutter, speaking with many people every shift. There are some similarities between the two jobs. Both need good people skills, patience, ability to stay calm under pressure, ability to recognize and challenge personal biases, and more. I had doubts about starting my job as well, I was worried I’d be useless at it. But I finished my certification, applied, interviewed, and got the job. Even after being hired I still had doubts, I showed up anyway and now I’ve been doing this for four years. I’ve gotten used to speaking with people of various ages and abilities, you can get used to it too. You have to deal with stuttering in every other aspect of your life, so why not work? Best of luck OP I hope you continue pursuing nursing.
