Social skills take practice. We only get better at being social by engaging in lots of social activities. If we feel awkward because of our personalities or speech barriers then it's likely we will feel less inclined to participate in social activities thereby reducing the amount of time we spend getting better at social skills. It really is a numbers game of spending hours and hours engaging in different social activities that make us less socially awkward and builds our confidence which counteracts our speech barriers. Don't forget that you are you and what you may think of as social awkwardness others might think of as charming or refreshing originality. We need to remember our 'flaws' are just part of a whole that makes us unique. There is no such thing as perfection.
