hey 16 M here. when i finished middle school (i was 13 then) i had to move to France and go to school there ofc. i was nervous just like you because i didn't know the language and i didn't know if i'd had friends and how people would react to my stutter. But when i got here i started learning a bit of french before school started and even tho that helped a bit i still had a lot to learn. i remember my first day of school there, i was completely alone. but since there were some people who spoke the same language as me in that school i used to stick with them as often as possible even if their friends only spoke french and it was hard for me to understand of say anything. however a teacher there offered to teach me some friends a hour every week and it's all thanks to her if i could learn the basics of the language, and with them i could easily learn from everyone else (from the other teachers and students that talked in class). and that's how i learned a whole new language, i needed the basics (such as basic grammar rules and verbs and all that stuff) and from that i just managed to learn the language by listening to others and interacting a bit. but ofc, it's hard to interact when you have a stutter and even if i could understand french very well now the only problem was to actually speak it. understanding a language and actually speaking it is quite different and i'm the perfect example for that, and the fact that french is the language i stutter the most on doesn't help at all. but fortunately for me the high majority of people here are very supportive and they don't really care about my stutter (or any disease/condition/problemin general tbh). the teacher who teached me french made some other students in my class make me feel more comfortable and integrated and at the end of the year i was part of their group. so it was all just luck tbh, without them being so kind and nice i would still be lonely and still feel like an outsider. i really hope this helped you even just a bit. if you have any other questions, feel free to ask. Also, if you're interested, we have a discord channel for stutterers, you can find it in the "info" section of this subreddit (if you're on pc you can see there are some boxes at your right, the third box is the one about the discord server)
