Does anybody have a stutter that just affects certain sounds or word combinations? Hi there, long time redditor, but I just stumbled upon the stutter subreddit. I was so happy to find a place that actually took this kind of stuff seriously. Anyway, I know a few other people who stutter and they seem to just have a general stutter. I find that mine is unique because I have never met anybody else with it. So here goes: I can talk normally for most of the time, but certain words or combination of words do not work. It's like my brain locks up. I know exactly what I want to say, but the words don't want to come out. It's usually vowel sounds, like a soft A, or combinations that make no sense. For example, I eat at Panera during my lunch break a lot. I either get the Sierra Turkey or Smoked Turkey Breast. I can say the former perfectly with no problem. I start stuttering on the latter once I get to the turkey part of the word. I can provide more examples, but I'm new to this whole world of stutterers thing. I didn't even meet another person who stuttered until I got to college. Until then, it was like I was all alone with this stuff. I'm so glad to have found a place where others have the same issues.
