If your anxiety significantly exacerbates your stuttering, then ask your doctor about options. The questions in my last post are more for the sake of skepticism. Here are some of my points of contention with the write-up: \- The 'numerous genes' study accounts gene mutations for only "10% of cases of familial stuttering," yet the OP claims, "There are numerous genes that, if active, can increase one’s predisposition for developing a stutter." \- The 'survey' study highlights correlation at best, yet the OP says developmental stuttering likely occurs "in conjunction" with the subject disorders. \- As far as I can tell, the science behind the OP's statements saying developmental stuttering is caused by "hyperactivity of the dopaminergic system " or by "a form of compensation because of signal misfires in the left hemisphere" is largely hypothetical, maybe even conflicting (but the access I have of the studies appear to not be detailed enough). Basically, there's not enough information. \- Simply put, supporting the off-label use of drugs while not actually pointing research on how medications can help developmental stuttering is dangerous. What is the average reader here supposed to do with that? \- The OP has yet to respond to address such contentions, even for other write-ups he's posted on other subreddits. Given contentions like above, the OP's conclusions should not be considered fact, and this write-up appears dubious in good intentions to me. The OP could be incompetent or he is more focused on promoting himself and/or things like pharmaceuticals -- or something else ill-intentioned. This write-up should be taken down because he appears to be breaking the following rules: \- "No self promotion or advertising." (He links his article, and his account appears to be his real name.) \- "Do not encourage dangerous activities." (He encourages off-label use of drugs to treat developmental stuttering.) \- "Do not promote treatment that has no scientific evidence." (Unless he can highlight studies that help evidence the use of drugs to help stuttering in the way he is promoting.)
