The only secret sauce I have learned in my 40 years of living and struggling with a stutter my whole life is feeling confident when I talk. There are times I can't get past it. I had to figure out what tactics work for ME to get over a block. What works for one person won't always mean that it will work for the next. I always have situations where I know I am going to struggle. Mainly introducing myself is where I have the most trouble. I became a professional wrestler 15 years ago, and I learned that when I talk on the microphone in front of an audience, I just have bullet points and then I call most of what I say on the fly. Saying something when there aren't any other alternatives to another word I know I'll struggle with if difficult. So I do better not thinking too much about what I'm going to say. That goes against what alot of people say, which is "just think about what you want to say." In closing, find out what triggers you and where you struggle the most and see if you can work on it. If I go in feeling defeated already, then most likely, I will lose all confidence.
