This is true, but I definitely have to put much more of a conscience effort into not doing it than most. I have very few word blocks, my stuttering is almost entirely triggered by emotions. The ones that cause it are: sleepiness, anger, anxiety and excitement. Taking a deep breath (as generic as that sounds) can help somewhat when it's caused by anxiety or excitement. Trying to not get too behind on sleep can help as well. Recognizing that it's largely caused by certain emotions was a big step for me. It helped me learn how to manage it better and anticipate when my stutter may be coming back.
