Notice how… When you block, you’re still able to mouth your words without vocals? Yea. It’s a vocal problem. You may say we all know this, which most of us do, but how can we use this to help us? Is stuttering simply the inefficiency of *quickly* matching mouth movements with vocalizations? Surely, given all the time in the world, we can slowly flow through any word, even if we’re blocking like crazy on it. But that would get us crazy looks so we don’t do it. Anybody else notice this? In my head, I know if I just took MY time to say it, I could. I also know in my peak moments of dysfluency, I don’t trust the power of my voice or the efficiency to time intonation correctly with mouth movements. A lot of us also talk very fast and get told to slow down a ton. All of this troubleshooting and being caught in blocks with people I know and trust has led me to narrow down my issue(and possibly “our” issue) to an issue of spontaneous vocalization with inefficient timing of corresponding mouth movements.
