As someone who stutters, heres what i think. I have a few points lol. 1. dont make a student stutter through a sentance. Once you get the point, its not a big deal unless your a language teacher doing translations, but there are other ways to go about it 2. for me and a lot of ppl, public speaking can make it worse. im gonna quickly share an example that happened when i was like 11-12: basically every year my skl held a public speaking thing and you had to speak to the class which i was really panicking over, once my teacher finished explaining i put my hand up so i could ask if i could not do it. i was stuttering so bad and i remember being so embarrassed, my teacher said i dont have to do it infront of the class but i had to do it in her office because she had to hear me speak, which was still a little scary but way better. 3. try not to pick on the student if they dont have their hand up. i dont know why but for some reason it just makes it worse, especially if im alr struggling with the topic. but if they have their hand up, its ok to choose them because they want to answer the Q, for me personally i am less afraid to put my hand up in history bc im good at it and confidence can help tbh, but if i get picked on in french/german i want to cry because im struggling with the subject enough. 4. talk to them about what they want. they might want to try to speak or read in class a bit or they might not, i do understand that they have to speak atleast s tiny bit, but try to do what would make them most comfortable as much as possible
