I’ve tried damn near every on and off label anxiety med. Only benzos work(gabapentin, pregabalin or phenibut help too, the first two are better long term) but they lose effectiveness when it comes to stuttering if used too often. Benzos for important or stressful social events do help and can build confidence and improve your stutter long term if used properly. It would be great for interviews and public speaking. Good luck getting any doctor to prescribe that though. I only got a temporary prescription because I showed up to the first appointment mid panic attack with a BP around 220/130 and a HR of 190. It’s sheer ignorance on their part. There’s literally decades of experience with benzos being a legitimate long term treatment but it’s “addictive,” as if ssri’s are any less so. They don’t even know how ssri’s actually work. That’s all from my experience anyway. Ssri’s and pretty much any serotonergic medication gives me serotonin syndrome, at any dose. Idk why, neither does any doctor I’ve talked to. I hate those meds that doctors are always way too eager to prescribe rather than anything that’s actually effective. If you don’t know what serotonin syndrome, I suggest looking it up to see if that was your experience. Maybe I’m just weird and it’s just me but I could check off every one of those symptoms when on those meds, and there’s a lot.
