Advice on talking to my parents/doctor about anxiety medication I have stuttered all my life and mostly struggle with my name, ordering food, speaking on the phone, etc. Now that I am in college, I feel that my insecurity and anxiety about my stuttering has really started taking a toll on my self esteem, confidence, and mental health. Anyone have an advice or experience with using medication to reduce the symptoms of stuttering? I'm still trying I figure out what I am going to say to my parents and doctor about wanting to start taking medication. As many of you know, stuttering is a difficult topic to discuss and explaining the way it makes you feel can be tricky. I've never really opened up to my parents about it because I feel that they will not understand and I am nervous that they won't realize how much my stutter affects me as a human being. Any advice/stories/knowledge on taking medication to reduce symptoms of stuttering would be greatly appreciated!
